Kogi Deputy Governor’s Security Aides Foil Abduction Of Motorists On Ejule-Ochadamu Road

Security operatives in the Kogi State Deputy Governor’s convoy on Thursday foiled an attempted abduction of motorists along the Ejule-Ochadamu Road in Kogi State.
The incident occurred at Ofejiji in Ochadamu, Ofu Local Government Area, when a group of armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, blocked the road, stopping vehicles, shortly after the passage of the State’s Deputy Governor’s convoy.
According to a press release signed by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Unubi Emmanuel, the kidnappers were targeting an 18-seater BD Express Bus transporting passengers from Otukpo Benue state to Lagos.
“They had set up a roadblock near the Ochadamu village, stopping vehicles and selecting their targets. They however ran out of luck when the security agencies in the Deputy Governor’s convoy noticed and swiftly intervened.”
“Upon alerting the Nigerian army, the police and local vigilante, the Deputy Governor directed them to confront the kidnappers and ensure their apprehension for prosecution.”
The Deputy Governor Joel Salifu, while addressing the situation, expressed dismay regarding the recurring incidents of attempted kidnapping in the area, hence directed that a permanent checkpoint be established in the area.
He emphasized that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo remains resolute in combating criminal elements instigating chaos and instability in the state until citizens can sleep peacefully with their two eyes closed.
While assuring residents of the State of the commitment of the State Government to the security of lives and property, the Deputy Governor charged youths of Ejule, Ochadamu and other adjoining communities to desist from unlawful activities, and promptly report any suspicious behavior or unfamiliar movements in their areas, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.
He sternly warned those perpetrating such atrocious acts to cease their actions or be prepared to face the full force of the law.
The foiled abduction attempt is a major boost to the security efforts in Kogi State, which has been plagued by kidnapping and armed robbery in recent times.
The success of the operation is a testament to the effectiveness of the security agencies’ collaboration and coordination.
