Gov. Bello Appoints Caretaker Chairmen For Kogi Local Councils

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has approved the appointment of 21 Transitional Caretaker Chairmen for the 21 Local Government Councils in the state.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onogwu Muhammed in Lokoja on Monday stated that the caretaker chairmen were carefully selected based on their competence and dedication, and the determination to steer the ship of their respective LGAs with unwavering commitment and resolve.

The statement added that the action was in accordance with the Re-enacted Law of Kogi State, which outlines the establishment, composition, structure, finance, and functions of the local government areas 2023.

It noted that the governor’s action was aimed at efficiently filling the void left by the former local government chairmen whose tenure expired in December, 2023.

According to the CPS, Gov. Bello acknowledged the pivotal role of local government administration, particularly in the area of security and thereby ensured that no vacuum was created in the local administration.

While congratulating the new appointees, the governor urged them to ensure efficient service delivery to the people of their constituencies, thereby engendering good governance.

The inauguration of the caretaker chairmen is expected to hold in the Glass House of the Government House, Lokoja, on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 9am.

7. Amade Egwuda Ochuenu – Idah

8. Hon. Cosmas Attabor Ilemona –
Igalamela-Odolu

9. Ibrahim Haruna – Ijumu

10. Barr. Zaccaeus Dare Michael –
Kabba-Bunu

11. Hon Musa Abdulmalik – Kogi

12. Hon. Abdullahi Adamu – Lokoja

13. Hon. Ademola Bello – Mopa-AMuro

14. Hassan Atawodi – Ofu
